This is to the city manager and the mayor: Why are you allowing high school children to ride with police officers? I thought their job was hard enough and dangerous. Plus, who's going to pay for one of these children if one of them happens to get hurt? It looks like some procedures need to be reevaluated with the sheriff's department. In my department, we were always taught to secure our weapon and not leave it in our car. So now if other countries decapitate our prisoners, that makes it OK for us to waterboard them? I don't understand your reasoning. Isn't the whole point that the United States is above that sort of thing? Aren't we supposed to be showing countries that we can't treat people that way? We all know that the Iraq war's being started over oil, and yet they threw in also that we were fighting against the atrocities that Saddam Hussein forced upon his people.

All security measures are also in place, CBSE chairman Ashok Ganguly claimed. While the class 10th examinations will be conducted from March 1 to 27, the Class 12 examinations will be held from March 1 to April 2. The examinations will be conducted across 5,018 centres of which 375 have been marked as sensitive and will have additional security measures. The National Capital Territory alone will have 1,109 centres. The board, this year, is introducing redesigned High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) question paper for both the standards. Based on the national curriculum framework2005, the new design includes about 10 per cent of very short answer questions and about 20 per cent of questions to assess HOTS. Advising students to stay calm, Ganguly said the new pattern will test understanding of information and the focus will be on measuring students abilities to reason, justify and evaluate information.
10% of UK drivers 'bump-and-run'
Almost one in 10 British drivers admits to having crashed into a parked car and driving away, according to a survey. Some 70% of drivers have had cars damaged in this way, while 20% of those who admitted the offence felt no guilt. Tony Chilcott, of insurers Direct Line, which commissioned the research, said it is "worth remembering that it is a crime" to hit a car and drive away. A total of 1,526 UK motorists aged over 18, were questioned by YouGov online between 12 and 15 November. Mr Chilcott said "bumping another car can happen so easily", pointing out that "it may be tempting to drive off". This feeling seems to be echoed by the survey's respondents. .

During a talk on stage, he talked about how the movie landscape for African Americans has changed in 20 years. "There was only one black director when I got out of film school. Every time a black film came out, it was an event. Today, Tyler Perry has a film out every week." He also said Morehouse graduates too many business majors, too many people taking jobs simply for the money, not for the love of the job. "This is a liberal arts college," he said. "We need to be more well rounded… I hope we start more entrepreneurial programs." As for his sports journalism program, he hopes to generate more minority sports writers. "The press box is still a mostly segregated area while on the field, the brothers are running up and down the field." Lee spent moments of downtime at the event scanning his Blackberry for basketball game start times.
Outdoors Report: Prospects appear promising for razor clamming on ...
Conditions should be much improved with better weather when selected ocean beaches open for razor clam digging Friday through Monday. On a three-day dig during the holidays, clam diggers had to contend with swells of 13 to 15 feet and the resulting rowdy surf. Nonetheless, many diggers achieved their 15-clam limits or close. "Those iffy conditions scared off a fair number of folks," said Dan Ayres, state coastal shellfish biologist, "but those who came the first night did pretty well. The north end of Long Beach was good, Twin Harbors was good, Mockrocks was good." You can take that to mean there is no lack of clams on most beaches. With the weekend forecast calling for showers, temperatures in the mid-40s and swells maxing out at 9 feet, digging should be a little easier, too.
