| Time to invest a buck? Lottery pots growing
Players matching all five numbers and the Powerball would have won or shared the $153.3 million jackpot. The prize goes to an estimated $173 million for Wednesday. There was one winning Powerball ticket sold in Arizona, with four of the five numbers drawn plus the Powerball. That ticket is worth $10,000. Similarly, Wednesday's The Pick jackpot is estimated to grow to over $11 million, because none of the tickets sold for Saturday's game matched all six numbers drawn. Those numbers were: 16, 42, 33, 44, 3, 28 .
Campfield sings same old song
State Rep. Stacey Campfield, who has supplied more joke material to comedians than a team of scriptwriters, is back on his soapbox again. This time, the Knoxville Republican wants to prohibit any mention of homosexuality in public school classes, pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. Any mention, you understand. Instead, it must be heterosexual. Meaning if Johnny or Suzy asks a pointed question in social studies about U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, or in gym about Olympic diver Greg Louganis, or in biology about asexual reproduction in certain mosses or worms, the teacher will have to change the subject. After washing Johnny's or Suzy's mouth out with lye soap. OK, so I'm teasing about the soap. Maybe it can be Dial or Irish Spring instead of lye. But the fact remains that Campfield, who never met a headline he didn't love to grab, is back to his tricks of brewing tempests in tea pots.
Hip-Hop Rumors: Jay-Z As Frank Lucas? Rockers Got Jokes? Can't Ban The ...
Well, actually Jay admitted that the studio didn't think he could hold down the whole sound track. I don't know for certain, but I do know that Jay really talked a lot about being able to relate to Frank's laid-back demeanor. In fact, I always felt Jay could make a great actor since I saw the video for “Streets Is Watching." Check it out and tell me what you think. LUPSTERGATE People think I hate Lupie. Not true. I definitely think he disrespected A Tribe Called Quest in a number of ways. And an eye witness said he saw the Lupe man choke a girl. I didn't even make such a claim! I wrote a rumor (somebody told me about it) and later got a separate letter that said what it said.
Perks for Fort Pierce Utilities Authority Board members add up to $84 ...
That's just a small incentive to get them to show up, City Clerk Sandy Steele said. Running a multi-million-dollar operation such as the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority takes up a lot of time and requires the skills and expertise of some of the most talented people in the community, board member Tom Perona said. "When I first got on board I did not know there was any type of compensation whatsoever," Perona said. "At the time, I couldn't believe it. It was something I wasn't interested in except when I found out I could get health benefits for me and my two children. I don't think it's necessary, but for the amount of time the board contributes to the authority and the level of decisions that we make, I don't think this benefits package is inappropriate. Take it away tomorrow, and I'd still be thrilled to serve." Hundreds of citizens marched to City Hall in October protesting what they called high utility rates and asked for more efficient use of dollars, including suggesting the city use its yearly transfer it gets from FPUA toward reducing utility bills.
Georgia: Thousands suffering in silence: Violence against women in the ...
For reasons of personal safety the names of all women mentioned in this report who have experienced violence in the family have been changed and any case details that may make them identifiable have been altered. The only exception is the case of a woman whose husband has died. Including due to lack of available safe and affordable housing and access to independent means to support themselves, several women whose cases are mentioned in the report continue to live with their violent partner and risk reprisals if they are identified. The case examples included in this document were either obtained through interviews conducted by Amnesty International during a fact-finding visit to Georgia in April 2006 or provided by the following Georgian NGOs: Advice Centre for Women "Sakhli"(7), Anti-Violence Network of Georgia, the Centre for Protection of Constitutional Rights, the Georgian Young Lawyers Association, and Saphari(8).
Obama Fights False Links to Islam
